We love both designing and building restaurants. We have a few restaurant design projects in Southern California – The first we would like to showcase is Lucky’s Steakhouse on Coast Village Road in Montecito, CA.
The project was a bit of a challenge, because the previous restaurant was a Key West inspired joint – decked out in true flamingo pink and turquoise regalia. The kitchen remained open during construction, we did small remodels and equipment switch-outs when they were not preparing amazing meals for catered events.
We truly enjoyed the hands on process of this job, in the end we combined a few buildings into one – kept an intimate atmosphere, while giving the client a lovely local bar, an amazing wine room, small, medium and large dining rooms and bathrooms that guests can actually use…I won’t go there on what we inherited…still gives me shivers!
A shout out to Gene for bringing this restaurant to Montecito! Thank you!!
Remembering back to the early 1990’s when we remodeled this beautiful house by John Lautner. Katie was working for Lautner’s Structural Engineer Andrew Nasser in Pasadena. Rosy Wilson owned the house at the time, and we did some amazing alterations that seem to have been kept. The circular stair was constructed by Frank Villanueva (Frank’s Sheet Metal) and Glen Holden (Doc’s Woodshop) – they still work with us after all these years…some of these photos are from when we remodeled – others show how the furnishings have changed (notice the mls tags), but the bones remain the same! Frank Villanueva also did a literally seamless job on the kitchen counters – the cabinets are from Bulthaup, but Frank custom manufactured the counters and integrated Franke sinks.
